FDFAS is one of the largest Decorative and Fine Arts Societies in the UK with 11 lectures each year on the third Tuesday of each month from 10.30 at the Farnham Maltings. Members meet each other for a coffee prior to the lecture, held in the Main Hall, which has raked seating and can easily accommodate our 450 members. The Maltings is conveniently situated in the centre of Farnham, with a car park adjacent to the building, and it has a small restaurant.
Report of the February meeting is HERE.
The Society chooses top lecturers to speak on a wide range of topics in the decorative and fine arts covering all aspects, including jewellery, paintings, sculptures, glass, gardens and houses.
We are a friendly Society and everyone has the opportunity of getting involved in the many active Groups as volunteers. We have active groups of Volunteers involved in Heritage, Church Recording, Young Arts and Garden Recording. It is a wonderful way of getting to know other people with similar interests.
FDFAS organises interesting visits and study days as well as tours in the UK and abroad. Theatre trips are also a feature. The Visits and Study Days can be found in our programme.
A Schools Art Exhibition is held at the University College for the Creative Arts, Farnham Campus biennially to work with local schools to encourage and promote art among the young.
Farnham DFAS has a very active committee to organise all the various meetings and activities. The new chairman for 2008/9 is Peter Duffy, whose CV is HERE.
